Barbara Dille ~ PCOTC Breed Handling Barbara Dille
A
professional dog trainer for nearly 45 years,
Early in her career, Barbara was mentored by Milo Pearsal, Sam and Margaret Gardner, and other notable trainers of the era. She has been a member of PCOTC since the early 1960’s, when the training facility was a school gym in Port Chester, giving the club the name by which it is known today. She is a member of Saw Mill River Kennel Club (current vice president) and Ramapo Kennel Club. She has held several board positions, including president, of both the Standard Schnauzer Club of America and the Knickerbocker Standard Schnauzer Club. Over the years, her Standard Schnauzers have won many group placements and Specialty Best in Show and High in Trial awards. She has written two definitive books on the breed and is currently under contract to write two more books for the publisher. Barbara has been invited to lecture on obedience and conformation in the U.S.S.R., Brazil, Germany and Australia as well as in the United States. In addition, she has served as an expert witness, giving testimony in many legal cases. An avid student of canine behavior, Barbara has attended many seminars and professional workshops, constantly updating her techniques, methodologies and ideas. She continues to work in private consultation to teach her students how to avoid behavior problems and provide solutions for existing concerns — stressing positive methods — for both conformation and obedience.
